Liberia: Koulibaly Shines on Borough FC Return With Goal and Crucial Saves

MONROVIA — Goalkeeper Abdulai Koulibaly marked his return to Borough FC in dramatic fashion on Sunday, scoring a second-half penalty and making a series of crucial saves in a 1-1 draw against Heaven Eleven in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division season.

Playing at the D. Twe Sports Pitch in New Kru Town, Koulibaly who recently rejoined Borough on a two-year deal following his departure from LPRC Oilers proved decisive at both ends of the pitch.

The shot-stopper broke the deadlock in the 70th minute, calmly step-stepping up to convert from the penalty spot to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Beyond his goal, Koulibaly produced a commanding display between the posts, turning away several dangerous efforts from Heaven Eleven to preserve Borough’s advantage.

However, Borough’s bid for all three points was thwarted in the 84th minute when Heaven Eleven’s Moses Cooper rose above the defense to head home the equalizer.

Experienced Head Back in New Kru Town

Despite conceding late, Koulibaly’s individual performance provided a major highlight for Borough as the club aims to build momentum in the new campaign.

Koulibaly brings a rich legacy back to the club, having featured prominently across its previous names from Monrovia Club Breweries to Global Pharma FC and now Borough FC.

During his previous stint, he helped the club secure two Orange FA Cups and two Second Division titles.

After departing at the end of the 2024/25 season for LPRC Oilers, Koulibaly mutually terminated his   contract with  Oilers to pave the way for his return to New Kru Town.

Borough FC will look to claim its first victory of the new season on Thursday, October 22, when they travel to Tusa Field to face Gardnersville FC.
