Monrovia – In a major boost to Margibi County’s quest for silverware, business tycoon Upjit Singh Sachdeva, popularly known as “Jeety,” has donated L$300,000 to the Margibi Sports Association ahead of the county’s highly anticipated semifinal clashes against Nimba at the SKD Sports Complex.
The donation, made through Jeety Rubber and its subsidiary, Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC), comes as a reward for the county’s qualification to the final four of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet.
Margibi is set for a “Super Wednesday” on January 14, 2026. The county’s kickball team will face Grand Kru at 2:00 PM, followed by a blockbuster football showdown against powerhouse Nimba County at 5:00 PM.
Strategic Support
The financial package is strategically divided to ensure all athletes are catered to. According to the companies, L100,000 has been earmarked for the kickball team and L100,000 for the football team. The remaining L$100,000 was presented in the form of assorted food items to sustain both squads during their intensive residential training camp.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony at his rubber processing plant, Mr. Jeety emphasized that the gesture is rooted in his companies’ commitment to Margibi’s youth and corporate social responsibility.

Their qualification for the semifinal is a tremendous achievement that deserves national recognition,” Mr. Jeety said. “This donation reflects our appreciation for the teams’ hard work and dedication. Sports play a vital role in bringing communities together and giving young people a platform to shine.”
He further noted that Jeety Rubber and SRC remain committed to investing in the people of Margibi through initiatives that promote unity and regional development.
“Morale Booster”
Receiving the cash and items, Tony Walker, Chairman of the Margibi Sports Association, described the donation as a timely intervention that would significantly lift the spirits of the players.
“This donation demonstrates that our corporate partners believe in our potential to bring glory to Margibi County,” Walker said.
“It will significantly boost our teams’ morale as we prepare to face Nimba and Grand Kru.”
Walker used the platform to challenge other corporate entities operating within the county to follow Jeety’s lead in supporting grassroots sports.
“The timing is particularly meaningful. As we enter the final stages of preparation for this double-header, knowing we have this level of support makes a world of difference,” he added.
The donation comes at a critical time for Margibi, as the football team seeks to reach the grand final after falling short in the semifinals for two consecutive years.
