Liberia: Helping Hands Humanity International Donates Medical Supplies to Redemption and JFK Hospitals

MONROVIA – Humanitarian organization Helping Hands Humanity International (Triple HI) has donated essential medical supplies to Redemption Hospital and John F. Kennedy Medical Center to support health workers in delivering quality care.

The donation, made on Saturday, was led by the Liberia Chapter Coordinator, Ms. Valerie F. Koko, along with members of the organization. The initiative aims to strengthen safety measures for frontline health workers, particularly in maternity and other high-demand wards.

Receiving the items on behalf of Redemption Hospital, Hawa E. Dennis, IPC Focal Person, expressed gratitude to the organization, describing the donation as timely and impactful.

“You may see it as small, but it means a lot to us. These materials are greatly needed and will go a long way in supporting our work. May God bless your hands,” she said.

Marie J. Morris, MCH Supervisor at Redemption Hospital, also commended the organization, emphasizing the heavy workload of the hospital’s OB and pediatric wards. She highlighted the urgent need for additional materials, including sanitary pads and supplies for mothers and newborns.

“The OB ward carries a heavy load. Sometimes, we do not have enough materials to meet the growing demand. We appreciate this gesture and hope future supplies can focus more on Redemption Hospital because of the level of need here,” she stated.

At John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Kebeh D. Mulbah, RM/RSM Supervisor of the Maternity Hospital, received the supplies on behalf of the administration, including Hospital Administrator Ms. Davidetta Parker-Sheiff and Deputy Administrator Mrs. William.

She noted that while many donations often focus on patients, health workers also require adequate protective equipment to remain safe while serving others.

“If health workers are not protected, they cannot effectively serve patients. We are grateful that this donation specifically considered the safety of staff,” she said.

Speaking to the press, Ms. Valerie F. Koko outlined the background and mission of Helping Hands Humanity International. Founded in 2021 by Minister Evelyn G. Sorbor, the organization began with community outreach initiatives and later expanded its humanitarian efforts to hospitals and vulnerable communities.

Ms. Koko explained that the organization is supported by passionate individuals both in Liberia and the United States who contribute personal resources to fund its activities.

“The estimated value of today’s donation is between US$3,000 and US$4,000. This time, we focused on meeting the needs of hospital staff because safety is essential. We are calling on the Government of Liberia and other organizations to collaborate with us so we can reach more communities, including rural counties beyond Montserrado,” she said.
