MURRAYVILLE, Sinoe County – Significant progress has been achieved on the construction of the Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plant in Murrayville Township, near Greenville City, with the successful installation of all 1,500 PV modules at the project site.
The completion of the solar panel installation marks an important milestone in the development of the renewable energy facility, which is expected to provide reliable and sustainable electricity to Greenville City and surrounding communities.
Project engineers have also completed the routing of PV cables connecting the solar arrays to the PV inverters in the field. In addition, the installation of alternating current (AC) cables linking the field equipment to the technical room has been finalized, paving the way for the next phase of system integration and testing.
The Solar PV Plant forms part of the European Union-funded Light Up Southeast Programme, implemented in partnership with the Government of Liberia through the Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA). The project is designed to increase access to clean and affordable energy while supporting economic growth and improved public services in Sinoe County.
Once operational, the facility will contribute significantly to the electrification of Greenville City, providing households, businesses, schools, health facilities and public institutions with access to dependable electricity.
The contractor and technical teams remain committed to maintaining progress toward the project’s completion, ensuring that the people of Greenville can soon begin to benefit from the transformative impact of reliable power supply.
The Greenville electrification project is part of the European Union’s broader support to Liberia’s energy sector, aimed at expanding access to renewable energy and improving the quality of life for communities across the country.
In a related development, a new shipment of single-phase and three-phase split electricity meters arrived in Buchanan this morning and was offloaded at the Buchanan Warehouse under the supervision of MBH Power Nigeria Limited.
The delivery is a key step in the European Union-funded energy program designed to expand access to reliable electricity in Buchanan and surrounding communities.
The meters will be used for customer connections and to support the expansion of distribution services across the city.
Part of a €42 Million Regional Investment
The consignment is part of the EU’s broader €42 million package to improve electricity access in three Liberian cities: Buchanan, Greenville and Barclayville.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the Government of Liberia(GoL) to strengthen energy infrastructure in the southeast and central regions.
Advancing Electrification Goals
Officials say the safe arrival and storage of the meters mark continued progress toward the project’s electrification targets.
The initiative aims to connect households, businesses and public institutions to modern, sustainable energy services.

MBH Power Nigeria Limited is managing the warehouse and logistics for the Buchanan component of the program.
With the meters now on site, preparations are underway for the next phase of customer hook-ups as Liberia moves closer to lighting up Buchanan City.
