Liberia: Dillon Gives Victory Speech, Says ‘I Owe It to You’

Monrovia – Mr. Abraham Darius Dillon, poised to be the next junior Senator for Montserrado County, has extended his appreciation to the people of county, saying “I owe it to you”.

He said his election would lead to ‘turning on the light in the Senate so that outside the Senate would also begin to brighten’.

Dillon promised to declare his assets and liabilities on the day of his induction into office. “I’ll do it in keeping with accountability and transparency.”

Dillon: “I want my being in public office to be to serve the public for the good of the public.”

Dillon said upon receiving his first salary and allowance, the would call members of the media to disclose his what lawmakers make and send the money back to the Central Bank of Liberia in protest for reduction.

He said it is unfair to make more than US$10,000 as a lawmaker when the ordinary people live on less than US$2 a day.
