Monrovia– Ajodeji Bejide the suspended manager of Guaranty Trust Bank who is charged with aggravated assault after allegedly assaulting an employee of the bank has reportedly left the country on medical leave.

Defendant Bejide was granted the medical leave by the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice and has since left the country with report that he has gone to Mali Frontpageafrica has reliably learned.
When contacted Tuesday, October 2, Magistrate Kennedy Peabody confirmed the report but stated the court has granted the suspended Bank Manager after his lawyer (name not disclosed) had written the court requesting the court to grant his client a medical leave.
Magistrate Peabody went on to say that the court decided to grant the medical leave to the defendant because the defendant had filed a valid criminal insurance bond of US$ 50,000 filed on his behalf by the Insurance Company of Africa that far exceeded the actual amount of US$1,000.00 bond needed as the legal requirement for the crime of aggravated assault.
“The court acted in line with the law, the crime allegedly committed by the defendant is bailable and since the case was brought to court the prosecution has been unable to persuade the case”said Magistrate Kennedy Peabody however, when contacted Montserrado County Attorney Cllr. Edwin Martin also told this paper that if defendant Bejide has left the country he was not aware neither has the court inform him.
Bejide was charged on August 28,2018 by the police and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice for prosecution based on complaint by victim Edward Freeman an employee of the bank who alleged that he was assaulted by his boss man Bejide while at work at the bank’s 13th Street branch office.
Police claimed that during investigation conducted with defendant Bejide it was gathered that on August 28 at the hour of 8:30 am, the victim and the accused was in a meeting at the bank’s 13th Street office and while in the meeting the defendant took a calculator and threw it at the face of victim Freeman hereby cutting his lip.
“The investigation established that the allegation levied against defendant Bejide is truth beyond all reasonable doubt, as evidence by the injury on the victim lips and the voluntary admission of defendant Bejide himself during the course of the investigation” the police charge sheet copy of which is in the possession of this paper stated.
Police charge sheet further that in view of the facts and circumstances, the investigation resolved to charge defendant Bejide with the crime of aggravated assault in violation of Chapter 14 sub-chapter B Section 14.20 of the revised penal code of Liberia pending trial by the court.
The alleged assault of victim Edward Freeman by Manager Bejide sparked up public outcry that led to his immediate suspension by the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) the regulatory arm for all banking institutions in the country.
