Quayee, representing the aspirations of children throughout the region, highlighted critical issues such as poverty, child labor, inadequate healthcare, and limited access to quality education as barriers to children’s development.
“Many children are deprived of a safe and supportive environment, which limits their potential to succeed,” she said, stressing that despite some progress, countless children remain unheard and overlooked.
Quayee outlined key actions for governments and stakeholders including strengthening and enforcing child protection laws with tougher penalties and better support for victims; increasing funding for education, improving teacher training, and expanding vocational opportunities; enhancing healthcare programs focusing on immunization, nutrition, and mental health; fostering community engagement through awareness campaigns and local initiatives; and promoting economic opportunities for families to reduce child labor pressures.
Calling for sustainable financial support, Quayee emphasized that investment in children is a vital step toward national and regional development. “Investing in us is investing in the future of Liberia and ECOWAS,” she said. Children Voices is a youth-led organization dedicated to advocating for children’s rights and empowerment across Liberia and West Africa through programs, media, and policy engagement.
