MONROVIA — The opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has announced the expulsion of several of its lawmakers, following allegations that they received US$25,000 each to support a resolution seeking the removal of former Representative of District 10, Montserrado County, Yekeh Kolubah, from the 55th Legislature.

The CDC accused members of the ruling establishment of orchestrating what it described as a politically motivated effort to silence dissenting voices in the National Legislature.
The party further claimed that public funds amounting to approximately US$1.2 million were allegedly used to facilitate the process leading to ex-lawmaker Kolubah’s attempted removal.
According to the CDC, the controversy stems from a legislative resolution signed by lawmakers that sought to expel Hon. Kolubah from the House of Representatives.
The party alleged that some legislators were induced with US$25,000 each to append their signatures to the resolution, describing the act as “illegal, unconstitutional, and driven by political manipulation.”
The CDC further stated that it has expelled all of its members who allegedly participated in the signing of the resolution. Those expelled include representatives from Margibi, Lofa, River Gee, and Maryland Counties.
The party maintained that these lawmakers defied prior internal instructions not to engage in proceedings it considers politically targeted and procedurally flawed.
Among those named are Representative Ivar K. Jones of Margibi County District 2, Julie FatormaWiah of Lofa County District 2, Momo Siafa Kpoto of Lofa County District 3, Alexander Poure of River Gee County District 1, Choloplay Isaac Wuo of River Gee County District 2, Johnson S. N. Williams of River Gee County District 3, and P. Mike Jury of Maryland County District 1.
The CDC emphasized that the expulsions were immediate and final, arguing that the lawmakers violated party directives and engaged in actions that undermined internal discipline and the party’s political stance in the Legislature.
The party also recalled that the same lawmakers had previously been warned against participating in what it termed the “illegal removal” of former House Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa.
