Bong County – Several development projects were officially inaugurated over the weekend in Electoral District 4 of Bong County, as the district’s representative announced that these initiatives are aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions for residents.

Speaking during the dedication ceremony, Representative Robert Flomo Womba said the projects were driven by repeated requests from constituents.
“We did assessments, and these were things the people asked for year after year. Today, we are fulfilling those requests,” Rep. Womba stated.
The projects include the construction of a youth center, a guest house, and a modern clean water facility.
According to him, the water system complete with a tower, pump, and supporting infrastructure, cost about US$10,000, while the youth center and guest house were valued at US$20,000 and US$16,000 respectively.
Beyond buildings, the initiative also focused on improving rural access through the clearing and rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads. T
Rep. Womba noted that heavy equipment has already been deployed across several routes, including connections between Bellafania and Jaka, Naama and other surrounding communities. Additional roads serving villages near the district border with Guinea were also highlighted.
“These roads are critical for our farmers and local trade,” the lawmaker said, emphasizing their role in boosting economic activity and mobility across the district.
He claimed of personal financial sacrifice to fund some of the projects, stressing that instead of purchasing a new official vehicle, he redirected approximately US$45,000 toward development efforts.
“My people see others buying new cars, but I chose to use that money for them. It would be a disservice to the people who entrusted me with leadership to spend it on luxury.”
Speaking further, Rep. Womba expressed optimism about the district’s future, citing ongoing collaboration with county leadership and plans for additional project dedications in the nearest.
The lawmaker also fulfilled a promise of L$500,000.00 to the people of Naama made during the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections. Rep. Womba had promise half a million Liberian Dollars to the people if they voted President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and even if he didn’t win his own seat.
“During the elections, I promised you that if you give me Boakai I will offer you a half a million Liberian Dollar even if I had lost my own seat. And from the records of count, you indeed, voted him overwhelmingly. So, after two years, I am here to fulfil my obligation to you,” declared Rep. Womba as he openly presented the cash to the town’s leadership.
Speaking during the tour, Bong County Senator, Prince K. Moye hailed his fellow Unity Party lawmaker for the ‘impact-driven’ projects in the district.
Senator Moye described the UP Legislative Caucus’ Chair as a responsible leader who is always there for his people.
Like Senator Moye, local leaders including town and clan chiefs, district commissioners and women leaders, among others, most of whom spoke in their local Kpelleh vernacular, extolled their lawmaker for his invaluable services to them.
