Liberia: BCTC Board Reportedly Considers Firing VP James Saybay Over Leaked Explicit Video

Saybay has denied being the individual in the footage—claiming it was created using artificial intelligence —members of the BCTC Board appear unconvinced.

Gbarnga – The Board of the Bong County Technical College (BCTC) is reportedly reviewing the possibility of dismissing the institution’s Vice President for Administration, James Saybay, following the circulation of an alleged explicit video involving him.

The leaked video, widely shared in online forums across Bong County, appears to show a man resembling Saybay masturbating during a video call with an unidentified woman.

While Saybay has denied being the individual in the footage—claiming it was created using artificial intelligence —members of the BCTC Board appear unconvinced.

“This matter is about morality and the image of the institution,” a board member told FrontPageAfrica. “Though we can’t independently confirm the identity of the person in the video, his continued presence on campus is a distraction. If I were him, I would resign.”

Despite Saybay’s insistence that the video is AI-generated, board members say a careful review of the footage has led them to believe otherwise. The video has also triggered a wave of ridicule among students, with some reportedly referring to Saybay by a mocking nickname, “Weapon.”

In response to FrontPageAfrica’s initial report, Saybay stated: “Let those who were behind this still live to see me decently dressed every day. BCTC will still move on strong no matter what they do. I pray for them. They can go ahead and generate more if they like. God bless them. Amen.”

Saybay also issued a personal retort to FrontPageAfrica’s Editor, Selma Lomax, writing: “Selma Na Kolleh Lomax oh ok now I know what you are after. We will prove to each other very soon our capacities as two men, trust me. I thought you were performing as a journalist, but I see you being personal. This is Bong County.”

Meanwhile, students at BCTC are calling for Saybay’s resignation and are reportedly planning a protest. Tensions on campus have escalated not only due to the video scandal but also in response to Saybay’s recent enforcement of a dress code, particularly targeting students wearing sleeveless clothing.

Local leaders have also begun weighing in. Bong County District #3 Representative Marvin Cole labeled the video a “disgrace” and urged immediate action from the college’s administration.

“You can’t have someone of that calibre still employed at the college,” Rep. Cole said.

The administration of BCTC has yet to issue an official statement regarding the controversy.
