Speaking to journalists from her sick bed in Zeanzue Town, District #6 Bong County, Mercy Kerkulah,

lamented that the complications developed after a surgical procedure at the C.B. Dunbar Hospital in May 2025.

According to Madam Kerkulah, she underwent surgery at the C.B. Dunbar Hospital on May 4, 2025 during which she delivered a baby. However,  she explained that about two months after the procedure, she began experiencing severe health complications, a situation that worsened in July 2025

Madam Kerkulah further disclosed that due to her deteriorating condition, she revisited the hospital to seek further medical attention, but was informed by health workers at the C.B. Dunbar Hospital  that fluid left in her body following the surgery, which has caused her stomach to enlarge significantly.

The 45-year-old mother disclosed that she is currently experiencing intense pain and serious physical distress, explaining further that her abdomen has swollen to the point that she can barely breathe normally.

She said the condition has also made it extremely difficult for her to eat, use the restroom, and t breathe properly

“I am suffering from a lot of pain, and my stomach has grown so big that I cannot breathe properly or eat,” Madam Kerkulah said while describing her condition.

When contacted for clarification, the administration of C.B. Dunbar Hospital, Enoch Morris, confirmed that Madam Kerkulah had indeed sought medical care at the facility during the period mentioned

Mr. Morris acknowledged that Madam Kerkulah  visited the hospital but declined to provide further medical details regarding her case, clarifying that such information falls under the authority and supervision of the hospital’s Medical Director who was not on seat.

“The patient did come to the hospital for treatment on the date mentioned, but detailed medical information about her condition can only be provided by the Medical Director,” Mr. Morris stated.

Meanwhile, Madam Kerkulah is appealing for urgent medical assistance as her condition continues to deteriorate.

Family members and residents of Zeanzue Town have also expressed concern about her worsening health and are calling on well-meaning Liberians and citizens of the county for immediate intervention to save her life.
