Koon Delivers on Promise, Donates Buses to Two Southeastern Hospitals

Monrovia — House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon has fulfilled a commitment made during his December 2025 tour of southeastern Liberia, donating one bus each to Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, and J.J. Dossen Memorial Hospital in Harper, Maryland County.

Koon personally presented the vehicles during his latest visit to the region, saying the donations were part of his broader commitment to supporting communities and public institutions across the Southeast.

“Fellow Southeasterners, I’m back in Maryland and Grand Gedeh counties to fulfill promises made during my visit in December 2025,” Koon said.

He said his previous tour allowed him to listen to citizens, assess challenges facing communities and institutions, and pledge support in education, healthcare, community development and governance.

The Speaker said the buses were intended to support the two hospitals as they provide healthcare services to residents in the region.

Beyond the hospital donations, Koon said his visit includes engagements with traditional leaders, women, young people, business communities and political stakeholders as part of efforts to promote development and bring government closer to citizens.

He also linked the Southeast’s development needs to the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, saying the region occupies an important place in the administration’s development priorities.

“The Southeast occupies a special place in the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development,” Koon said, adding that efforts would continue toward creating greater opportunities, strengthening institutions and improving living conditions.

Koon, a prominent political figure from the Southeast, said his return to the region was also intended to strengthen engagement with local communities and stakeholders.

“As a son of this region at the helm of national leadership, I can assure you the Southeast will not remain the same under this regime,” he said.

The donations come as public institutions across Liberia continue to face challenges related to transportation, logistics and access to essential services, particularly outside Monrovia.

Koon said he expects to meet and interact with residents throughout his visit as he continues engagements across Maryland and Grand Gedeh counties.
