Monrovia – Kids Rights project and partners have ended a one-day midterm evaluation proposal to strengthen the capacity of the institution to be robust in the implementation of the children’s law and creating awareness related to sexual base violence and access to justice.

Kids Rights is human rights based organization in partnership with the Defense for Children International (DCI), African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN), Special Emergency Activities to Restore Children Hope (SEARCH) and the Youth Coalition for Education in Liberia (YOCEL).
Speaking in an interview with FrontPage Africa, the Founder and Executive Director YOCEL, Beyan Flomo Pewee said the initiative is a midterm evaluation of the Kids Rights project in Liberia.
“As we are all aware in 2015 Abraham Keita won the International Children Peace Prize for his advocacy for children rights since he was nine years old, and as a follow up to winning the award, there was a prize allotted to him to implement some communities projects here in Liberia,” he said.
He noted that YOCEL is a development partner of Kids Rights that is involved in creating awareness about the prevention of violence against children through social media campaigns.
“Kids Rights being supporter of this project selected four organizations which YOCEL is a part, and implementing awareness on children rights and also sensitizing the communities on how to report cases of violence against children in the country,” he averred.
Director Pewee also added that the midterm review is to ascertain the level of improvement been made by the four collaborating partners, and the challenges confronting these institutions in implementing the projects base on lessons learned.
“As per the project agreement during this period we should have a midterm meeting as to ascertain what has been done by all four partners, what have been the challenges in implementing these project and what opportunities are there base on lessons learned to continue these engagements to sustain the impact created so far,” he affirmed.
The Founder and Executive Director of YOCEL noted that the implementation of different projects across the country show a high level of commitment and innovation by collaborating partners, asserting that the initiative is an opportunity for the forward match of Liberia.
“We are gather here today to reflect on the processes we have made so far and the challenges, and to see how best we can be able to build upon our experiences for the past and move ahead for a greater and bigger future for this project,” he avowed.
Beyan Pewee thanked Kids Rights for the level of support render to his institution to work in partnership to champion a common goal, emphasizing that YOCEL remains committed in addressing critical issues affecting children and look forward to continue its engagement beyond the Abraham Keita’s Foundation.
“I really want to actually say thank you to Kids Rights International for their support, because they are our lead donor, and leaving us as partner on ground to be able to yield out programs around protecting children rights in Liberia,” he said.
For his part, the Senior Program Manager of YOCEL, Wainright Acquoi said the intervention of Kids Rights to the many challenges face by the children of country is welcoming and in the best interest of the children of Liberia, stressing that providing access to justice, informing kids of their rights and making the understand give children a space to grow and develop into productive citizens.
“We can safely say that we are going to continue these engagements beyond Kids Rights, support to sustain the work we all have started in ensuring that children’s rights are protected and victims of violence seek redress through awareness and access to information,” he said.
