Monrovia – The government of Liberia and the Association of Liberian Construction Companies (ALCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to help boost the capacity of Liberian contractors.

Under the agreement, the Liberian government will provide technical support to Liberians operating construction firms in the country.
Also, under the new partnership, Liberian Contractors will be afforded the full privilege to participate in all foreign granted project.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Monrovia, Public Works Minister Mobutu Nyenpan described the agreement as a turning point in the construction sector of the country.
According to Minister Nyenpan, the government is delighted with the signing of a document that is intended to promote and strengthen Liberian contractors.
“This memorandum of understanding is significant in the relation between the Ministry of Public Work and the Liberian Construction Companies
“We are very please to work with you, today mark the beginning of a new relationship between our Ministry and the ALCC”, Minister Nyenpan noted.
Speaking further, Minister Nyenpan urged Liberian Contractors to take advantage of the new arrangement between the association and the government.
The Public Work boss said the intention of the government is to seek and promote the agenda of the Liberian people.
Describing the road sector of the country as cardinal in the development agenda under the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).
“We are calling on you to take advantage of the new relationship between these two institutions. We are doing this collaboration in the interest of our people who stand to benefit from agreement like this”, he averred.
For his part, the President of the Association of Liberian Construction Companies Sackie G. Johnson lauded the government for the partnership.
He said the MOU will go a long way in boosting the capacity of Liberian Construction firms.
“This is a memorable movement for the ALCC; we want to thank the Public Work Ministry for this agreement. The collaboration between us will help to build our capacity as local contractors”, Johnson stated.
The ALCC boss used the occasion to inform the government of Liberia about Liberian Contractors preparedness in carryout contracts.
According to him, Liberian contractors are now in better position to deliver on contracts because of the level of partnership and collaboration among the association’s members.
He also called on the government and other private institutions to entrust the ALCC with contracts.
