A respected Liberian sports journalist, analyst, and elite coach, Geekor has added a definitive milestone to his career by guiding Watanga Football Club to the 2025/2026 national league title, cementing his reputation as one of Liberia’s most versatile football minds.
The championship victory represents more than silverware; it is the culmination of years of dedication and a remarkable journey bridging two demanding professions sports journalism and elite football coaching.
From Commentary Booth to Championship Dugout
For many football enthusiasts across Liberia, Geekor is widely recognized as a commanding voice behind the microphone, offering insightful match commentary and expert breakdowns.
Yet beyond journalism, he has steadily built an impressive technical résumé. Balancing media responsibilities with tactical development, Geekor successfully transitioned from the microphones, pens, and studio analysis of the press room to the high-stakes environment of the touchline.
That transition paid massive dividends during the 2025/2026 football season.
Watanga FC secured the Liberian national league crown with an impressive campaign, totaling 56 points and finishing the season as champions with a game to spare.
Reflecting on the triumph, Geekor credited the success to discipline, consistency, and an unwavering commitment from both players and the technical staff.
“Success in football comes through commitment, preparation, belief, and collective effort,” Geekor emphasized.
A Football Mind Shaped in Maryland County
Originally from Maryland County, Geekor’s football influence stretches deep into Liberia’s grassroots development structures. His name became widely recognized during the 2016/2017 National County Sports Meet Liberia’s biggest domestic sporting festival where he guided Maryland County to a historic Grand Final appearance.
The achievement remains one of the county’s most memorable football moments, shocking observers as the underdog team defeated established opponents through rigid tactical discipline. Under Geekor’s leadership, Maryland County cultivated a generation of promising talent, including Kelvin Allison, Patrick Salaypolay Williams, Patrick Dweh, and Aflah Allison.
A Legacy on the Touchline
Today, Geekor’s coaching footprint can be seen throughout Liberian football. Players shaped under his mentorship, such as Mark Paye, Hilton Varney, Prince Kennedy, and Peter Putu, continue to build careers locally and internationally.
Geekor has also aligned with youth initiatives, expanding talent identification systems linked with FIFA’s development structures to shape pathways for emerging talent.
His extensive coaching résumé includes technical spells with clubs the like of National Port Authority (NPA Anchors), LIFE FC, CECE United, Heaven Eleven FC, and a brief stint with LISCR FC before taking the helm at Watanga FC.
