Elizabeth Hoff Replaces Massa Jallabah on Ombudsman

Monrovia – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has replaced Massa Jallah with Ms. Elizabeth E. Hoff as a member of the Ombudsman.

Ms. Jallabah did not meet the age requirement to serve the office.

On Wednesday, citing a litany of issues, the Election Coordinating Committee (ECC) called on President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to withdraw or recall the appointments made to the office of the Ombudsman, but the latest appointment seem to manifest that the President’s composition of the Office would remain the same.

“It is the view of the ECC that the closeness of these two individuals to the ruling establishment and to an opposition party undermines the spirit and intent of the independence of the office of the Ombudsman and therefore they are not the most suitable Liberians to occupy these positions,” Oscar Bloh, Election Coordinating Committee.

According to an Executive Mansion release, Ms. Hoff replaces Atty. Massa Jallabah whose appointment was earlier rescinded due to age limitation.

With the appointment of Ms. Hoff, the structural composition of the Office of the Ombudsman has been completed.

Ms. Elizabeth E. Hoff is a former President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and one time Deputy Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism.

Meanwhile, the appointment is subject to confirmation by the Honorable Liberian Senate.
