Monrovia – Unity Party Chairman, Wilmot Paye, has confirmed that talks are being facilitated by some individuals who are allegedly said to be siphoning and diverting public resources to have opposition political parties merged to unseat the ruling party.

His comment was in response to questions about unconfirmed reports that the standard bearer emeritus, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, is behind the scene supporting a Liberty Party and Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Ticket for 2017.
Reports say President Sirleaf is considering a ticket that will bring in power an opposition political party to succeed her.
Said Paye: “Hmmmm. I’m only aware of what the Unity Party is doing to prepare itself for victory next year. We can and will defeat any ticket, be it collaboration, alliance, whatever.
By his special grace and power as you know, we are not chasing resources; we are aware of other “talks” being facilitated by some individuals who are allegedly said to be siphoning and diverting public resources”.
He added “We don’t want to deceive and disappoint Liberians. We will do what is legal, correct, just, appropriate and in place to win next year.
In 2005, we didn’t win because of resources. That same will of steel is in us. In fact, you saw our 2016 National Convention, how colorful, elaborate and successful it was compared to what you’ve witnessed lately. And nothing will come anywhere close to it.”
Recently CDC Vice Chairman for Mobilization, Mulbah Morlu, disclosed via social media that the CDC will do everything legally possible for the Unity Party to not be elected by the Liberian people.
He called on all CDCians, sympathizers and well-wishers to join forces in unseating the Unity Party through the democratic process.
He wrote, on his Facebook page that the UP is an enemy of the state and of the CDC, describing President Sirleaf and VP Boakai as two headed dragon.
“To all CDCians, sympathizers and well-wishers, the enemy has been defined, and it’s time to build a rainbow coalition to proverbially behead the two-headed dragon,” he wrote.
He also wrote that the Liberty Party, ALP, ANC, LPDP, NPP, MPC are not the CDC’s enemies, saying, Ellen, Joe and their collaborators are public enemies of every good thing Liberia stands for.
“The Liberty Party, ALP, ANC, LPDP, NPP, MPC are not the CDC enemies. Ellen, Joe & their collaborators are PUBLIC ENEMIES of every good thing Liberia stands for, much talk of collaboration, but the time has truly & finally come, we cannot wait,” he said.
He noted that there is much talk of collaboration, but the time has truly come, saying Liberians cannot wait to oust the regime of President Sirleaf and her followers.
Also On the eve of Liberia’s 169th Independence Anniversary, on Sunday, July 25th, 2017, leaders of several opposition political parties sat down for a rare tete-a-tete which could have some bearings on how the 2017 presidential elections take shape.
Multiple sources who attended what is being described as a “retreat” hosted by Senator George Manneh Weah (CDC, Montserrado County) at his Jamaica Resort located in Thinker’s Village, said those in attendance included:
Mr. Benoni Urey, the political leader of the All Liberian Party; Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine, political leader of the Liberty Party; Alex Tyler, Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP); Mr. Nathaniel Barnes, the Liberia Destiny Party and Rep. James Biney, chairman of the National Patriotic Party.
