GBARNGA – The Administration of Cuttington University says it is deeply saddened by the news of the recent alleged gang rape involving two of its students – Marc Holder and Stephen Collins – which is being investigated by the Liberia National Police.
The university’s response comes in the wake of a FrontPageAfrica news article dated May 31, 2019 published both online and in print which alleged that the two students who were arrested and charged Monday by police for reportedly forcing a girl into a home and raping her were students of the university.
However, the university, through its director of communication, Kweshie Tetteh, confirmed that Collins, who is a student of Business and Public Administration, is a commuter student of the university (resides off campus). Tetteh also confirmed that Collins was expected to graduate next month.
Tetteh further clarified that Holder is not enrolled at Cuttington due to a suspension from the university following an investigation conducted by the Students Affairs, which found him guilty of misconduct and mischievous acts on campus. The administration said it is appalled by the distress and injury caused the victim and family. The administration also said it’s grateful to the Liberia National Police for having brought the situation under control and encouraging speedy trial. Meanwhile, Holder and Collins were Thursday sent to the Gbarnga Central Prison awaiting trial.
