Civil Service AgencyDirector Launches PYPP Alumni Association

Monrovia – The Director General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA) and chairperson of the board of directors of the President’s Young Professionals Program, Dr. Puchu L. Bernard, has lauded the leadership of the program for impacting the country’s workforce.

The PYPP was launched in 2009 by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and is now Liberia’s premier and most competitive program for qualified youth wanting to transition into the civil service.

Dr. Bernard spoke at the official launch of the President’s Young Professionals Program Alumni Association held at a local resort in Monrovia.

She noted that the PYPP has made a significant impact due to the unlimited number of young people who are committed to serve Liberia.

The program brought together current PYPP fellows and alumni who have gainfully contributed to public service and Liberia’s development agenda.

The launch was also graced by government officials, diplomats and people from the private sector.

“The alumni association will highlight the talents and contribution of these brilliant young people to effectuate and provide efficient service delivery within the public service,” said Dr. Bernard.

She pledged the CSA commitment to the program, extolling them for forming an association that will keep them together and stronger for the good of Liberia.

The chairman of the organizing committee for the launch of the alumni association, Elchico Fawundu, Sr., said Liberian youths are great assets to the country’s future and their potential must not go unnoticed. He said investing in the country’s youth is a recipe for a brighter future.

H. K. Zaizay, director of the PYPP said the empowerment of young people serve as an opportunity for Liberia and not a problem.

“Young people are diamonds that need to be polished for leadership roles in the country.”
