Why some have disagreed with me on my view concerning opposition staying out of attacking each other in hope for a united opposition bloc, you cannot totally disagree with those who see some opposition leaders, mainly Cllr. Charles Brumskine as someone not to trust, looking at his past and present records.
Members of the Liberty Party have been calling for straight focus on the ruling party which in my view is the best thing to do, but it is a hard thing to believe them when their leader has in the past and up to now shown untrustworthiness in being aligned with an opposition ideology.
Many have correctly argued that if Charles Brumskine and the other oppositions wanted a stronger and united bloc they should have agreed to a merger and fall behind the CDC, which in all fairness is the leader of the bloc.
However, personally I see no benefit in opposition attacking opposition, but it should be noted that many have set eyes on Brumskin’s next move.
I would predict that Brumskine might likely again; side with the ruling party if the time comes for a united opposition but those partisans of the Liberty Party and others may likely not follow his usual deception. Remember, this election is about us against them.
I personally care less as to what other political parties do or what happens in their camps or don’t happen.
Everyone who has followed me on Facebook forums would notice my interest is to talk about my candidate day in and day out.
However, I have since told myself that attacking fellow opposition would do me and my party no good.
It is in this line of thought that I believe we in the opposition bloc, no matter what, will unite when that time comes for us to join forces.
However, we cannot ignore history which clearly illustrates a point in time when Charles Brumskine and others went behind the ruling party over the same opposition bloc not too long ago.
The Supreme Court’s ruling on the case involving NEC and the VP candidate of the Liberty Party, although lacks any substance to represent interpretation of the law by the country’s high court, should be seen as a win for the opposition.
Such Out-of-Luck and not based on Law ruling should serve as a basis upon which our opposition leaders develop a sense of commitment to a true course of unseating the unpopular and corrupt Unity Party.
This can only be done with sincerity, with true patriotism and with an interest that the Unity Party must be thrown through the door.
Let me give my personal assessment of the Supreme Court ruling based on the CoC.
As a matter of fact, it should be noted that I am not a lawyer and have never taken law classes other than when I did business law in college and the sitting for my professional licenses.
However, the Supreme Court ruling requires no formal education to interpret such disturbing conclusion.
In its deliberation, the Supreme Court cited laughable things such as “did well to abide by the CoC”, “at least resigned his post after the ruling of another person concerning the CoC”, but then came to admit that the law was broken once provision of the law was not being met.
The Supreme Court, in clearing the LP second man, argued that NEC did not have any basis for rejecting him.
Well, the law that the SC should have interpreted spells out clearly that, a person vying to contest for elected position must resign their post 2 years prior.
More to this, the SC stated that at least Karnwea had resigned his position after its ruling in another case which was well within the 2 years mandate.
Well, their honors know very well that the law is not interpreted based on other cases. The law becomes a law the point at which it is passed by congress.
In another look at it, what if there had been no case brought before the court prior to this case ruling? What would have been the Supreme Court argument?
The law should be based on what the law says and not whether other cases were heard or not.
Bottom line and my interest in this is to call on all opposition leaders, most especially Mr. Charles Brumskine not to end up betraying fellow opposition as is noted of him, although i have predicted he might most likely do the same.
