Cape Mountainians Warn Green Advocate over MOU With Concession Company

Zolduah Clan, Grand Cape Mount – Citizens of Zolduah clan in Garwula District, Grand Cape Mount County has told Green Advocate to stay away from their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sime Darby Plantation Liberia (SDPL).

Citizens of the clan have promised to provide over 5000 hectares of land to Sime Darby Plantation in Liberia (SDPL) for another investment.

According to them, the agreement with the company will pave the way for employment opportunities for their children as well as other development initiatives.

In an effort to avoid the collapse of their agreement with the company, the citizens in a joint resolution signed by all heads and other prominent citizens in the clan warned Green Advocate through its executive director, Alfred Brownell to stay away from their arrangement with the company.

“Haven assessed your illegal entrance in our communities without our consent and made unwanted intervention into our mutual co-existence relationship between us and Sime Darby, kindly be informed that the citizens of Zolduah are lawful and respect any agreement between them and any party or parties,” the citizens’ resolution read.

In their MOU, the citizens also warned the company not to allow any third party for their mutual business agreement, but go through the grievance procedures as spelled out in the MOU if any dissatisfaction.

The Zolduah’s citizens alleged that the head of Green Advocate has always advocated for his personal gains leaving the citizens at the disadvantage.

They revealed that the citizens from the project affected communities (PACs) have also written similar letter opposing Mr. Brownell’s intervention.

“With the above statement, the people of Zolduah Clan don’t want your intervention in any form into Zoduah and Sime Darby’s activities,” they warned.
