Monrovia- The National Governors’ Council of Liberia (NGCL) comprising traditional leaders, tribal chiefs, and elders, has honored its Chinese partners who are on a weeklong visit to Liberia.
Speaking during the honoring on Tuesday, Chief Zanzan Karwor said their Chinese partners have been great partners to the country and the council.
“China has been a great partner to Liberia; China stood with us in bad times developing our infrastructures and other critical development initiatives. Let me say a big thank you to all for coming to our country,” he said.
According to him, the Governor Council will ensure that they have a long-lasting partnership with China in an effort of supporting the One-China Policy in Liberia.
“We want you to help our country and our council so that we can move forward,” he appealed to the visiting guest.
For her part, Shery Wany, the Image Ambassador of China, speaking through a translator, thanked officials of NGCL for the honor bestowed on her and her colleagues and said they were greatly honored to receive such distinction, which she humbly accepted and dedicated to his country as well.
She praised the constructive engagement and cooperation of the government of the Republic of Liberia with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China – emphasizing the already existing relations between both countries and peoples.
In closing, she said the people of China will shortly begin to invest in the country through its health sector, education, agriculture, and others.
“We are about to invest and train more young people to give more support to the new government,” she concluded.
