The Jewel Howard-Taylor Annual Award Gives Highest Average Female Graduating Student at CU US$1k

Monrovia – The launch of the Jewel Howard-Taylor Annual Award has taken place with the cash amount of one thousand ($1,000.00 USD) United States dollars to the female student graduating with the highest average at the Cuttington University in Suakoko Bong County.

This initiative according to a release from the VP’s office is in fulfillment of a commitment made a year ago by Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor for the establishment of the Annual Award in her name to encourage female students in different field of studies.

The Vice President in an official communication to the Acting President of the Cuttington University, Father James Tamba, said the presentation of the cash award for Onward Presentation to the deserving female student of the University, commenced the Annual Award at the 2017 /2018 graduation ceremony.

The release quotes the Hon. Vice President as hoping that the deserving female student receiving the award, will see it as a means of furthering her education at the graduate level.

It can be recalled, early this year, Madam Howard-Taylor negotiated with Orange-Liberia to begin the provision of free internet service on the campuses of the Cuttington University in Suakoko and the Bong County Technical College in Gbarnga City, in Bong County.

The initiative is in fulfillment of an earlier promise she made when she donated fuel and cash to Cuttington University, as part of efforts to remedy financial constraints facing the University.

As the system is presently installed and functional, Orange undertook the cost of the equipment and installation for the set-up, while the VP has committed to underwriting the monthly recurrent cost for one year.
