MONROVIA — The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Liberty Party(LP) has reinstated the leadership of the party’s National Youth Congress and announced the formation of committees to oversee elections for both the Youth and Women Congresses.
In a statement issued Monday, the party said the decision followed the conclusion of an investigation into the conduct of the Youth Congress leadership and subsequent disciplinary actions.
The NEC said the Youth Congress leadership, headed by Othello Garpue, complied with the corrective measures imposed by the party during their suspension and accepted the disciplinary process without opposition.
“This demonstration of respect for Party authority reflects the values of accountability and commitment to the principles of the Liberty Party,” the NEC said.
The party added that the Youth Congress leadership has been reinstated with immediate effect and encouraged to continue serving “with renewed dedication and responsibility.”
The NEC also announced the establishment of two committees to work with the party Secretariat in organizing elections for the Youth and Women Congresses, in keeping with Article XIV of the Liberty Party Constitution, which requires elections for local and county officers, as well as the Youth and Women Congresses, within 18 months of the constitution’s adoption.
The committees have been given a 90-day mandate to conduct the elections.
Those appointed on Monday to the Youth Congress Convention Committee include Cephas M.M.D. Fahnzamiton — Chairperson, Comfort U. Benson — Member and Yekesson T. Kruah — Member.’
On the Women Congress Convention Committee, Willette P. Cooper was Chairperson, NNaomi Moore — Member and Jeneba Passawage — Member
The NEC said the move is part of the Liberty Party’s efforts to strengthen internal democracy, promote inclusivity, and empower young people and women within the party.
The party called on its members, particularly those in the Youth and Women Congresses, to support the election process with “discipline, unity, and enthusiasm” as the Liberty Party works to build a stronger foundation for national leadership and development.
