Monrovia — The Unity Party Legislative Caucus has praised the Government of Liberia for what it described as significant international and governance achievements recorded under the leadership of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

In a press statement issued in Monrovia on Monday, the caucus, through its National Chairman Representative Robert F. Womba, said the reaffirmation of Liberia’s eligibility for a second MCC Compact signals renewed national commitment to good governance, fiscal responsibility, economic transparency, and inclusive development.

According to the caucus, the development places Liberia back on a credible path toward accessing transformational development financing for priority sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and human capital development.

It noted that the progress reflects the Boakai administration’s resolve to strengthen fiscal discipline, implement critical reforms, and rebuild international confidence in Liberia’s development agenda after years of decline.

The Unity Party Legislative Caucus further highlighted Liberia’s election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term as another historic milestone achieved under President Boakai’s stewardship. The caucus recalled that Liberia secured an overwhelming 181 votes out of 187 at the United Nations General Assembly, marking the country’s return to the Security Council after more than six decades.

It stated that the election demonstrates the international community’s trust in Liberia’s commitment to peace, security, and multilateral cooperation, while significantly elevating the country’s diplomatic profile on the global stage. The caucus described the achievement as a clear indication that Liberia is regaining respect and credibility within the international system.

The statement, signed by Caucus Chair Representative Robert F. Womba, also underscored Liberia’s successful passage of the 2025 MCC Scorecard, which is a key requirement for compact eligibility. The caucus said Liberia’s performance on the scorecard reflects tangible progress in governance, economic management, policy reforms, and accountability, while also signaling renewed confidence from international development partners.

Since assuming office, President Boakai has made the restoration of Liberia’s global standing a central priority of his administration. According to the caucus, this focus has translated into strengthened strategic partnerships, renewed engagement with the United States and other Western allies, and the reactivation of high impact development cooperation mechanisms that had previously stalled.

The caucus cited ongoing efforts to secure a Second MCC Compact, the signing of major sector focused agreements including an Energy Compact, and increased multilateral visibility through active participation in United Nations and other international forums as evidence of the administration’s diplomatic reorientation.

It described Liberia’s election to the United Nations Security Council as one of the most consequential accomplishments of the Boakai administration, noting that it enables the country to participate directly in decisions on international peace and security, conflict resolution, sanctions, and broader issues affecting global stability. The caucus added that this role positions Liberia to strengthen its leadership within ECOWAS, enhance its voice on continental and global issues, and accelerate the implementation of key national development priorities.

Beyond international engagements, the Unity Party Legislative Caucus also commended President Boakai and the leadership of the Unity Party for the successful hosting of the party’s recent Homecoming Program, which raised more than one million United States dollars for party infrastructure development.

According to the caucus, the funds are expected to support the construction of a modern Unity Party headquarters in Montserrado County, as well as the establishment of additional party offices across all fifteen counties. The caucus described the Homecoming Program as a demonstration of unity, renewed energy, and growing national support for the ruling party under President Boakai’s leadership.

The caucus also welcomed Representatives Sumo Mulbah of Montserrado County District Number Three, Prince Koinah of Bong County District Number One, Alex Grant of River Cess County District Number One, and Austin Taylor of Maryland County District Number Three as four new members of the Unity Party Legislative Caucus.

It described the decision of the lawmakers to join the Unity Party as courageous and principled, noting that their move was inspired by President Boakai’s inclusive, responsible, and people focused leadership style. The caucus said the new members share a commitment to good governance, accountability, national unity, and the socio economic advancement of the Liberian people.

The statement, signed by Caucus Secretary General Prince Toles and approved by National Chairman Representative Robert F. Womba, urged the new members to work closely with the caucus leadership, the Unity Party National Executive Committee, and the broader party membership to advance legislative initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy and promoting sustainable national development.
