Liberia: NPHIL Strengthens Border Surveillance in Lofa County to Combat Mpox

The NPHIL team toured key points of entry, including Sorlumba and Madicorma, where they provided infection prevention and control supplies to support joint security personnel managing the borders.

The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) Director General, Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, has reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to working closely with border officials and local communities to eliminate Mpox from Liberia.

During a recent border surveillance visit to Lofa County, Dr. Nyan emphasized that combating Mpox requires a united effort from all citizens and stakeholders across the region.

The NPHIL team toured key points of entry, including Sorlumba and Madicorma, where they provided infection prevention and control supplies to support joint security personnel managing the borders.

Dr. Nyan also revealed ongoing plans with partners to bring additional vaccines into the country soon.

He urged community members to promptly report any suspected Mpox cases and adhere strictly to preventive guidelines.

Border security officials at Sorlumba and Madicorma expressed appreciation for NPHIL’s timely support and pledged to continue enforcing health protocols rigorously.
