Speaking at the ANC National Headquarters on Tuesday, after receiving an official intent declaration from the Progressive Citizens of Peace Island, the ANC political leader urged the people to be proud of Liberia’s milestone of 169 years but quickly added that the country should be much better than what it is today.

“As Liberians, we deserve better then we have and there is no reason why we should expect our country the way it is today,” Cummings said.

“We should be more demanding of our leaders and I commit to you that we will work hard every day with you for the rest of our lives to improve the lives of the citizens of Peace Island.”

The ANC leader also applauded the Progressive Citizens of Peace Island for their support to the objective of the ANC in order to change the leadership of the country.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Our citizens in Peace Island deserve electricity, running water, better roads; you are part of a very, very important district and you deserve better than you have today and we commit that if we are successful, we will make sure that we improve the lives of the people of Peace Island”, said Cummings.

“Let me also say we are going to visit the people of Peace Island ourselves. We will come to you to spend time with you, to listen to you and we will identify one project that we will do so that you can know that we are serious of improving the lives of the citizens of Peace Island.”

He urged them to have the conviction that they have found the right party and the right political leader.

“As you leave from here, I want you to carry the words that the ANC and ABC are committed to changing the lives of all of our people.”

“It will not happen overnight but it will happen and all Liberians will benefit as a result”, Cummings continued.

Also speaking earlier the chairlady of Peace Island, Madam Lorpu Garyon, said the people of Peace Island have decided to pledge their support for the ANC because of its motto of putting Liberia first.

She said they are worried about the future of their children and their unborn generation but said with the experience Cummings has they, can be assured that things will improve.
