Monrovia – Senator Jim Tornolah (PUP, Margibi County), one of the senators named in the Institute for Research and Democratic Development (IREDD) report for least participation in the Liberian Senate, says the research conducted by IREDD is weak and was done by individuals who do not understand Legislative work.
The Margibi County Senator who was placed among many senators including George Weah of Montserrado, Henry Yallah of Bong County, Prince Johnson of Nimba County and Sando Johnson of Bomi for low participation in the Senate said, he had earlier chosen not to respond to the report because of the manner and form the public has criticized the report.
“I challenge that report very seriously.” He says. “Here at the legislature, it is not how much noise you make that changes things. I speak with wisdom, precision. I ably represent the people of Margibi County and even the committee; that is why I have been privileged to travel on many missions to represent the trade sector and my work is being proven.”
“The IREDD report says I don’t speak but I don’t understand from what perspective and angle is it because for the matter of fact, when issues are placed on the floor, it is not just about making noise but speaking with precision, wisdom and analyzing issues and most of my work I do, I do them behind the scene. That is why the fruits are all there.”
He named the Patent Law, the Marrakesh treaty, the Lusaka Agreement and the Banjul Protocol amongst others as laws that he has ensured its passage by both chambers of the Legislature. “I think the report is not organized and I doubt and challenge the credibility of the researchers in research analysis.”
The Margibi County Lawmaker who was officially sworn in lately as Senator in April 2015, following a hullabaloo in the 2014 senatorial elections, accused the researchers of being bias and limited in thoughts coupled with very low IQs.
