Monrovia – Unity Party has finally concluded to endorse a young woman believe to be innovative, educated, and politically motivated to take the seat of Unity Party for the upcoming Montserrado District # 13 by-election.
In a release read by the party’s mobilization Chairman, Alexander T. Q. Harris over the weekend noted that “Whereas the upcoming by-elections in District # 13 are of high priority and importance to the opposition which is evident that generation change has commenced and should be strongly supported.”
The press statement further noted that “It is our right as the leadership of this district to elect people on the party’s ticket in consultation with the Unity Party Montserrado leadership, and the National Executive Committee of the Unity Party”.
The release also indicated that “Whereas section 1 Article VII (E&F) state that all partisans shall support the Unity Party’s candidate through campaigning and provide any support with his /her capacities.”
“Now, therefore, we acknowledge with our signatures that we have agreed to a campaign, vote and support Madam Cornelia Kruah-Togba as the candidate on the ticket of the Unity Party for District #13 Montserrado County for the upcoming November 20, 2018, Representative By-Election”, he added.
Responding to the endorsement organized by leaders of the district, Madam Kruah- Togba stated that “About seven years ago, if someone would have told me that today I will be receiving the endorsement of the Unity Party Montserrado County District # 13 to contest a representative seat election, I would have told them that, that is not possible,” she added.
She further stated that she joined the Unity Party as a member of the youth league and a Founder and Co-founder of one of the auxiliaries.
She pointed out that the quest to run in the race is peculiar because she will be representing not only the Unity Party but with close consultation possibly the opposition block or the Coalition of Opposition Political Parties.
“I thank you for the confidence that you have imposed in me, and I look forward to working with each and every one of you to ensure that we will not only succeed in this district but that I would bring change and transformation change to District # 13 and Liberia as a whole,” she added.
