Liberian Professional Gets Outstanding International Recognition for Contributions to National and Global Development

MONROVIA –  The year 2022 ended as a fulfilled year for a Liberian Environment, Climate Change, Program and Youth Development Expert as he received two outstanding International recognitions for distinct contributions to national, regional and global development.

Arthur R.M. Becker a Liberian professional who is Project Officer, Department of Multilateral Environmental Agreements at the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia and Liberia’s Representative to the 4th Permanent General Assembly(2022-2026) of the African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council(AU ECOSOCC), was nominated and received on November 11, 2022 in Alexandria, Virginia, United States of America the “Timothy Bowles African Human Rights Award” for his outstanding leadership qualities, exceptional contribution to humanitarian work, community development and persistent effort in creating sound leadership to promote human rights.

The honour was bestowed on Mr. Becker by the Jacobs Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies (JAGILS) at the annual JAGILS Gala and fundraising dinner held in Virginia, USA. The nomination was also based on the significant contribution Mr. Becker has made to environmental protection and management, as well as  practical steps to address climate change in Liberia, Africa and the rest of the world. Mr. Becker, also completed an advanced study in International Human Rights Leadership Studies in 2022 and was named Valedictorian of his class for his exceptional performance during the studies. He is an Alumna of the Jacobs Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies (JAGILS) class of 2022.

Also receiving distinguished honor at the JAGILS Gala and fundraising dinner in the United States on November 11, 2022 was H.E. Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for her commitment to excellence and exemplary leadership globally. Mr. Becker, expresses immense honor to be recognized by JAGILS together with H.E. Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor; an honor he believes that many would crave for in their lifetime, especially with a leader worth national and global emulation.

He furthered that the recognition and honor by the Jacobs Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies (JAGILS) further inspire him to do more to contribute to the protection of nature, work towards finding practical solutions to the climate crisis as well as addressing human rights challenges globally; something he says he’s passionate and committed to working for in his lifetime. He thanked Dr. Samuel Abbey Jacobs, Founder of the Jacobs Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies (JAGILS) and team for the honour and promised to uphold the virtues of the Award and global recognition.

On December 9, 2022, Arthur R.M. Becker was also privileged to receive another outstanding recognition at the close of the 4th Permanent General Assembly of African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (AU ECOSOCC) by the Secretariat of the AU ECOSOCC in Nairobi, Kenya as an appreciation for his dedication and unwavering support to ECOSOCC AU.

Mr. Becker, offered thanks to God Almighty for his goodness upon him to be blessed and bestowed with two outstanding and meritorious recognitions/awards in the year 2022. He is inspired to work more for humanity and for the preservation of nature as well as contribute positively to a world that is peaceful, violent free and one that recognizes the equal and fundamental rights of mankind.

Mr. Becker dedicates his both awards to his parents, Professor Henry R.M. Becker and Mrs. Miriam Fanny Becker as well as the young people of Liberia and vulnerable people globally who face the brunt of the climate and environmental crisis.
