The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) is using the 7th Prosperity Africa Conference in Monrovia to promote Liberia as an emerging destination for investors, highlighting opportunities in industrial development, exports and job creation.
The Authority made its case during the conference, held under the theme “Bridge by Prosperity,” at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia.
The gathering has brought together investors, government officials, business leaders, financial institutions and chambers of commerce from across Africa and beyond to discuss opportunities for economic growth and business partnerships.
Representing LSEZA, Director for Regulations and Legal Affairs Atty. Ebenezer Wilson outlined the role of Liberia’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in driving industrialization and attracting investment.
Wilson said the SEZ framework could help expand economic opportunities, create jobs, increase exports and strengthen Liberia’s competitiveness as an investment destination.
He also highlighted incentives available to businesses operating under the SEZ regime, including tax incentives, access to a youthful workforce, land resources and business support services.
According to LSEZA, the incentives are intended to make it easier for companies seeking to establish new operations or expand existing businesses in Liberia.
Beyond its presentation, LSEZA has set up an exhibition booth at the conference where prospective investors can obtain information about investment opportunities within the country’s Special Economic Zones.
The booth is also providing information on investment entry requirements, application procedures, available incentives and the process for accessing opportunities under Liberia’s SEZ regime.
The Authority said the direct engagement with investors provides an opportunity to demonstrate how Special Economic Zones can support business expansion, value addition, export development and employment creation.
The Prosperity Africa Conference is a biennial business gathering organized by the Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PACCI), in partnership with the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC).
LSEZA said it remains committed to promoting Special Economic Zones as platforms for investment, industrial growth, trade expansion and sustainable job creation.
The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority is the statutory body responsible for designating, promoting, developing and managing Special Economic Zones across Liberia, with a mandate to support industrialization, attract investment and create sustainable employment.
