Monrovia – The Liberian National Police has arrested two persons for allegedly aiding and abetting in the slashing of a man’s penis. The main suspect, identified as Obansanjo, is reportedly on the run.
The photograph of the man’s slashed penis was shown by relatives at the Monrovia City Court where two of the three suspects linked to the act were arraigned, a situation that roused much interest at the court.
“My brother was held behind by his hand by the guy arrested and the suspect now on the run put his hand in his trouser with a sharp object and slashed off his penis,” said one of the relatives of the victim.
According to the victim’s brother (name withheld), the suspect on the run allegedly wasted liquor in the victim’s face.
When he allegedly tried to inquire from him, one of his relatives allegedly came and held his hand behind him while the suspect allegedly pulled out a sharp object and put his hand in the victim’s trouser and slashed his penis.
The victim, according to family members, have been admitted to a local hospital (name not disclosed), undergoing medical attention but expressed fear that his condition would worsen.
When the matter was brought to the attention of the Presiding Magistrate of Monrovia City Court, Kennedy Peabody, an arrest order was issued out to officers of the Liberia National Police to arrest the perpetrators of the act.
The arrest order to the police from the Monrovia City Court called for the arrest of the three suspects who have been identified as Wetee, Sis Deah and Obansanjo.
Wetee and Sis Deah have been arrested and placed behind bars at the Monrovia Central Prison.
However, two of three suspects identified as Wetee and Sister Deah were arrested and taken to the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice Monday while the main suspect Obansanjo is still on the run.
According to the writ of arrest issued by the Monrovia City Court Monday, the three defendants intended to cause serious bodily harm to the victim.
“The alleged act of the defendants being wicked, unlawful, illegal and intentional is in violation of Section 10.1, 14.20 of the New Penal Law of Liberia the crime the defendant did do and commit.
They have been charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy and criminal facilitation.
