Monrovia – US military delegation being led by Major General Leonard Isabelle, Assistant Adjutant Guard, Michigan National Guard, Tuesday, February 12, paid a courtesy call on Defense Minister Daniel Ziankahn, the Minister of National Defense, in Monrovia.

“We are happy to continue working to improve the Liberian Military through our partnership. We are looking forward to sending professionals from the army over to the US for training in helping to make the military hospital successful,” said Gen. Isabelle
“This is our 10th year of partnership; we look forward to 25 or more years together as we interact as partners and friends. The AFL has really come a long way in becoming a force for good, not only in Liberia but in Mali where they are serving, and I am glad to see the improvement. I want to thank the Minister of Defense and Chief of Staff [Prince] Johnson for a job well done. This is my forth time coming to Liberia and every time I am impressed with the National Army.”
For his part, Defense Minister Ziankahn said the American General and his delegation’s to further solidify their 10-year partnership with the Michigan Guard since 2009.
“The National Michigan Guard has been a very great help to the Ministry of Defense and the AFL over the years as we strive to improve the lives of our soldiers, their spouses and dependents. They have helped with the engineering unit and the mentoring of our infantry Battalion,” he said.
Minister Ziankahn further disclosed that customarily they usually meet with their partner the National Michigan Guard and they look at the gaps within the army and Ministry, in order to find out how to improve the gaps, and one of the things they spoke on in their meeting was improving the military hospital. “In our meetings this morning, we concluded that we will send some of our military professionals over to the US to have them trained to be able to run the military hospital efficiently,” he corroborated.
