Liberia’s People Democratic Party Rocks Grand Bassa County

Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – The Liberia People Democratic Party, LPDP, continues its nationwide tour to hoist its flag at counties headquarters.

It can be recalled that the LPDP recently hoisted its flag in Lofa, Bong, Nimba and Margibi Counties where partisans, well-wishers and sympathizers gave a rousing welcome to the Party and its new Executive Member, Speaker Alex Tyler.

On March 27, 2016, the LPDP convoy left Monrovia for a ten days tour of Grand Bassa, Sinoe, Grand Kru, Maryland, Rivergee and Grand Gedeh Counties where the party would be hoisting its flag. The first county of entry was Grand Bassa County. Citizens, partisans and sympathizers gathered in what can be described as a triumphant entry of LPDP Party Executives to the Port City of Buchanan.

At the Party headquarters, a jubilant crowd met with the Executives chanting a brand new direction for the Republic of Liberia. Called upon to make a statement, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senior Executive of the LPDP told the cheering crowd that the time has come for a new direction for Liberia.

He regretted that at 168 years, Liberia is still lamenting over bad roads condition. Speaker Tyler said Liberians should be talking about overhead roads, economic empowerment to Liberians and control of the Liberians economy. He said for too long Liberians have been in economic darkness, especially on districts levels.

He noted that his tour of all electoral districts during the oil consultation brought to light the vivid picture of under-development and poverty in Liberia. It was against this background that he proposed US1m for each electoral district for development purposes and to change the infrastructural conditions of the districts.

Speaker Tyler told the gathering that unfortunately political leaders and government officials opposed same for selfish reasons. He furthered that the legislators stood firm though the amount requested did not sail through.

However, there are evidences that each electoral district now has projects that are impacting the lives of district dwellers. Speaker Tyler said if this had been done over the years, Liberia would have had development spread around the country evenly.

In a confident spirit, Tyler told partisans and the people of Grand Bassa County that since his break away from the Unity, he had assessed political parties and names that matter in the country and none offered the vision to fulfill the aspirations of Liberian as the LPDP.

He said LPDP has come to Bassa as another child that has the vision and commitment to bring the dreams of the people of Bassa and the entire country to a reality. This, he said, require the support of the people of Bassa. He then called for the collaboration of Bassa citizens to help chart the new direction that Liberia.
