Liberia: LFA Completes First Onsite Match/Video Analysis Course as CAF License A Course Returns to Liberia

Monrovia—The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has successfully concluded its inaugural two-day Match/Video Analysis Course at its headquarters in Congo Town, focusing on enhancing the skills of coaches and aspiring analysts in optimizing team performance.

The course, which brought together 27 participants who explored tactical breakdowns and player performance analysis, gained valuable insights into the role of video in improving coaching strategies and decision-making.

Lead facilitator Amsalu Fantahun, a CAF guest instructor and the recently named NCCAA West Region Coach of the Year in the NCAA Division II PacWest Conference, delivered expertise throughout the training.

LFA President Mustapha Raji expressed his gratitude to Fantahun for his commitment to supporting Liberian coaches. “This is the first course of its kind in our country with onsite training,” Raji stated. “I believe the participants gained valuable knowledge. This is not the end; we will continue these courses over time until we become experts capable of conducting similar training locally.”

The course was conducted in two phases, starting with online sessions via Zoom before culminating in the onsite training.

In a related development, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) License A Coaching Course officially commenced in Monrovia on December 13, 2024. Seventeen coaches, including four foreign participants from Zambia and The Gambia, are currently partaking in this prestigious program.

This marks the first time since 2014 that the LFA has conducted the CAF License A course, with Liberia being one of the few member associations granted permission by CAF to do so after meeting established requirements. This initiative underscores the nation’s commitment to developing high-caliber football coaches.

The CAF License A is regarded as one of the most prestigious qualifications in African football, featuring an extensive curriculum that covers tactical, technical, and leadership aspects crucial for coaches aiming to lead teams at the highest levels of the game.
