MONROVIA- Liberian blogger and digital media professional, Kerkula Blama, widely known as Aketella, has increasingly gained attention across the African Continent for his work in entertainment, culture and lifestyle media.

As the founder of Geez Liberia, Blama has provided a platform for emerging Liberian artists and cultural initiatives, contributing to the country’s growing digital media presence.
Born on April 25, 1994, in Salala, Bong County, Blama grew up during Liberia’s post-conflict era, which influenced his interest in media and youth-focused storytelling.
He attended the Church of Pentecost Elementary School in Monrovia before his family relocated to the Firestone Rubber Plantation region, where he completed Division 16 Junior High School in 2011 and Firestone Liberia Senior High School in 2016.
Blama is currently studying Management with a minor in Public Administration at the African Methodist Episcopal University and holds a certificate in website design from the Orange Digital Center (2022).
Blama began his professional career in 2016 as a music producer, collaborating with local artists in Paynesville.
His interest in digital storytelling led him to work with PlusLiberia as a writer and web manager, which provided him with experience in entertainment reporting.
In 2018, he launched Geez Liberia (initially LIB Geez), a platform that now regularly covers music, lifestyle, and cultural topics, and has become one of Liberia’s most referenced online entertainment outlets.
Expanding his media presence, Blama introduced a YouTube channel in 2021, focusing on discussions around the Liberian entertainment industry.
The following year, he hosted The Weekend Exclusive on Kool FM, covering lifestyle trends, music, and media developments. Today, under the Geez Media Incorporated umbrella, he manages subsidiaries such as Geez Ghana, Geez Nigeria, and Geez Sports.
Blama’s contributions have been recognized with several awards, including Blogger of the Year at the 2025 Young Achievers Africa Awards in Rwanda and Best Blogger of the Year at the 2025 Music Video Africa Awards in Nigeria.
In 2024, he was named Blogger of the Year at the Paynesville Entertainment Awards, with Geez Liberia also receiving Blog of the Year recognition.
He has earned additional nominations for Media Personality of the Year and Content Creator of the Year (Blog) at the West African Citizens Awards, as well as Online Media Personality of the Year at the WAFRIC Awards in 2018.
Through his work with Geez Liberia, Blama continues to provide opportunities for emerging creative, supporting exposure for local talent while contributing to the professionalization of Liberia’s entertainment and digital media sectors.
