MONROVIA – The Civil Law Court has issued a writ of summons for an Ex-LURD General, Oforee Diah. The summons is in connection to a US$99,000 truck that is believed to be for Madam Lucretia Turnquist.
Madam Turnquist’s legal team’s ten-count petition says she is the owner of a 2019 Homo Sing truck, purchased on June 19, 2021, at the value of US$65,000, from Evergreen Import and Export, a Liberian company.
The truck was purchased through Atty. Roosevelt Gould and after the purchase, Atty. Gould traveled to South Africa for studies.
Accordingly, Evergreen said they could not keep the truck at its facility for a longer period, as such Diah requested that the truck be kept in his yard.
Defendant Diah was contacted because he was a friend to the complainant’s daughter, and later took delivery of the truck to his house for safekeeping, after Madam Turnquist’s lawyers had prepared a legal document.
After some time, defendant Diah then demanded, that she takes delivery of the truck, for fear that parts would be missing, but when they went to collect the truck, it was nowhere to be found, and he refused to say where the truck was.
Madam Turnquist immediately informed the police where Diah was arrested in the Thinkers Village area, and the truck was discovered sold and registered in the new buyer’s name, thus causing her to incur more losses.
Due to the financial damage, Madam Lucretia Turnquist is demanding US$99,000 for the truck while in possession of defendant Diah, coupled with assessment and repair works and US$50,000 as punitive damages to serve as deterrence against future occurrence.
The Civil Law Court has ordered Defendant Diah to respond on or before September 10, and that upon his failure judgment by default will be rendered against him.
“You are further order to summon the respondent/defendant herein to answer to plaintiff complaint, on or before the 10th day of September A.D. 2021, that his failure to appear, a judgment by default will be rendered against him,” Court record in the possession of FrontPageAfrica said.
