Liberia: Down Town FC Secure Second Straight Win in LFA Second Division

With the win, Down Town FC now have 45 points from 22 matches and will face Pags FC in their next game at the Tusa Sports Ground.

Monrovia – Down Town FC secured their second consecutive win in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Second Division, defeating District 17 FC 2-1 on Sunday at the Tusa Sports Ground in Gardnerville, Montserrado County.

Striker Emmanuel Abakah, who recently joined Down Town from Blackman Warriors, opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Jersey Cooper added a second for Down Town in the 39th minute with a well-placed shot. District 17 FC pulled one back just before halftime in the 40th minute, but Down Town held on to maintain their 2-1 lead until the final whistle.

With the win, Down Town FC now have 45 points from 22 matches and will face Pags FC in their next game at the Tusa Sports Ground.

Coach Jasper Kon credited his team’s success to their excellent ball control and finishing in both halves of their recent matches against Gompa FC in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, and District 17 FC in Gardnerville, Montserrado County.

He emphasized the importance of staying focused in their remaining matches and urged his players to continue their individual training to maintain their performance.

Coach Kon expressed his belief that if Down Town FC can continue their winning streak, they have a strong chance of finishing among the top two teams, which would secure them a spot in the LFA First Division.

“Our main target is to maintain our winning run in the remaining eight games and deliver the necessary results to finish among the top teams,” Coach Kon stated.
