Liberia: Doe Brace, Sie Strike Power Borough FC Past Jubilee FC

The match, held at the iconic D. Tweh Field in the Borough of New Kru Town, marked a dominant start for the “Borough Boys” in the second phase of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division League.

A First-Half Resurgence

Playing before a spirited home crowd, Borough FC found themselves under early pressure. The “Church Boys” of Jubilee FC stunned the supporters in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to take a 1–0 lead.

However, the home side refused to break down, mounting a series of relentless attacks, and Borough FC leveled the score in the 35th minute when Sylvester Doe slotted home a well-worked equalizer.

The teams retreated to the locker rooms at halftime, deadlocked at 1–1.

Tactical Masterstroke

The momentum shifted decisively in the second half following a tactical adjustment by the Borough technical staff.

The introduction of Vitalis Sie Jr. proved to be a masterstroke shortly after entering the fray, Sie capitalized on a goal-mouth scramble, firing home a composed follow-up strike to hand Borough a 2–1 lead.

As the home fans intensified their cheers, Doe put the game beyond reach. With a flash of brilliance, the forward unleashed a spectacular long-range drive from outside the penalty area that left the Jubilee goalkeeper rooted to the spot.

Missed Opportunities and Defensive Grit

Despite the 3–1 scoreline, the margin could have been wider. Borough FC’s attacking duo of Marcus Kumeh and Sie Jr. were guilty of squandering several clear-cut chances that could have seen the “Pride of the Borough” hit five goals.

Jubilee FC, hindered by a thin bench traveling with only one substitute, displayed significant grit but lacked the depth to penetrate Borough’s organized backline.

The victory secures a “season double” for Borough FC over Jubilee, having defeated them by the same 3–1 scoreline in the first leg of the campaign. Borough FC now sits on 20 points from 15 matches. Sylvester Doe, for his part, extends his lead as the club’s top scorer with 7 goals. Vitalis Sie Jr. also took his season tally to 3 goals.

Borough FC will look to maintain this momentum as they climb the First Division table, while Jubilee FC must regroup ahead of their next fixture as they remain at the bottom of the table.
