Monrovia – The survival hopes of Borough Football Club has been dealt a significant blow as Head Coach Reo “Tikitaka” Nyanti officially resigned his post, leaving the club to navigate a relegation battle without its tactical leader.

Nyanti, whose “Tikitaka” style was once hailed as the future of the New Kru Town-based club, cited “personal reasons” for his sudden exit.
In a formal letter to the club’s presidency, he described his tenure as an honor but admitted he could no longer fulfill his duties.
“It has been an honor to have served in the position of head coach of such a great organization,” Nyanti wrote. “Unfortunately, I will be unable to continue in my role.”
A Season on the Brink
Borough FC is currently in the Liberia First Division League. With the season entering its most decisive phase, the club sits in the bottom half of the table with 21 points.
The resignation of Nyanti is seen by many stakeholders as a symptom of the immense pressure surrounding the club’s potential drop to the second tier.
The club’s management quickly moved to stabilize the ship, accepting the resignation and expressing gratitude for Nyanti’s service to the New Kru Town community.
The Befford Rescue Mission
In a bid to avoid the drop, the club has appointed Theophilus Befford as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season. Befford’s mandate is singular and clear steer the team away from the relegation zone and secure top-flight status for next year.
The “Befford Era” begins with a massive test on April 25, when Borough FC faces off against LPRC Oilers.
For a team at the bottom of the pile, the match is being viewed by many as a “must-win” if they are to maintain any realistic hope of survival.
The Stakes With only a handful of matches remaining, Borough FC likely needs to secure at least 9 to 12 points from their final fixtures to leapfrog their rivals and escape the bottom three.
