MONROVIA – The Chairman of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Elections Committee, Cllr. Meo D. Beyan, has issued a firm guarantee of transparency as the nation’s football governing body prepares for its upcoming polls.

Addressing sports journalists on April 16, 2026, at the LFA headquarters, Cllr. Beyan emphasized that the committee will operate as a strictly independent body, guided by the LFA’s internal statutes and FIFA’s global regulations.
“We are an independent committee and we are going to work within the confines of the LFA statutes,” Beyan stated. “What the LFA statutes say is what we are going to do. We don’t investigate candidates; we evaluate candidates.”
Core Eligibility Requirements
To ensure a credible process, the committee outlined the primary benchmarks for all aspirants.
According to the current statutes, candidates seeking office must meet the following four pillars of eligibility:
Minimum of 25 years old, Must be a citizen of the Republic of Liberia and No history of criminal convictions including No documented record of involvement in fraudulent activities.
Beyan clarified that the committee’s mandate is evaluative rather than investigative, meaning the burden of proof regarding eligibility rests on the documentation provided and verified against official records.
The Chairman’s remarks come at a time of heightened scrutiny from stakeholders and the public. To mitigate concerns, Beyan underscored two critical commitments:
Statutory Adherence
Every phase of the electoral cycle from the call for applications to the final vote count will be anchored in the legal framework of the LFA. This “by-the-book” approach is intended to prevent arbitrary disqualifications or procedural lapses.
Transparency and Inclusivity
The committee aims to foster a democratic environment where all qualified individuals can contest without fear of bias. “Safeguarding the integrity of the process remains our top priority,” Beyan noted, adding that the goal is an outcome that genuinely reflects the will of the football community.
With the eligibility criteria now public, the spotlight shifts to prospective candidates. The Elections Committee’s ability to remain “independent and evaluative” will be the litmus test for the LFA’s administrative stability heading into the 2026-2030 term.
