Liberia: Bong Teacher Wins over L$1M from Winners Bet

Monrovia – Sports betting has a relatively long history in Liberia. However, winning jackpot of over one million Liberian dollars is somehow uncommon. But history was made last week when a classroom teacher of the Phebe Community Lutheran School in Suakoko District, Bong County, won the amount of L$1,438,280 (US$7,016) with just L$90 (US$0.45) from two tickets.

Jeremiah Flomo, 48, son of former Bong County Senator Richard Flomo, revealed that he has been playing bets for over 20 years but he has always believed that one day, “luck would shine on me.”

Flomo, who was accompanied by his uncle, was at Winners headquarters on Broad Street in Monrovia on Tuesday, July 30, to receive his money.

Flomo also revealed what he termed his secret even though this was the first time that he has won since been playing gamble for 20 years.

According to him, his strong interests in probability might have helped him win. “Since my childhood, I have always had strong interests in probability. All of these with adequate sports betting research, I conducted over the years, helped me in winning today.

Plasma Kolon, an employee of Winners Incorporated, said the company is sure that the precedent and prompt payment of winnings “will convince players they will be paid whatever they win, whenever they win.”

The amount won by Flomo is undoubtedly the biggest payout in the annals of sports betting in Liberia, and with the most popular English Premium League just a week away, more football punters will be excited by this news and will gear up to try their lucks.
