Monrovia-Twelve individuals, including the Imam of the Red Light Central Mosque, who were arrested in connection with Thursday, November 13, violent resistance of Civil Law Court Eviction order, have been formally sent to court following their arrest during the court-ordered eviction in Red Light–Parker Paint Community, Paynesville.

The incident occurred as officers from Civil Law Court “B,” supported by armed police, attempted to enforce the eviction of occupants against a man named Keita, who claims ownership of multiple stores and a mosque within the disputed property.
Resistance escalated into chaos, with stones, cutlasses, and petrol bombs reportedly used against security personnel.
One petrol bomb was thrown at the nearby EcoBank branch, though bank security and the Liberia National Fire Service quickly prevented significant damage.
Police confirmed that one court officer was injured during the confrontation.
Those sent to court include, Abraham Jalloh, Iman Abu Kamara, Osman Troure, Sekou S. Kamara, Alpha Kamara, Mohammed Kromah, Hassan Kamara, Prince Robert, Mohammed Diakateh, Mohammed A. Kamara, Ousumane Kamara, James Fallah, and the Imam.
Authorities say the arrests and court proceedings demonstrate the government’s commitment to enforcing judicial orders and deterring violent resistance.
Legal observers note that the cases will test the balance between upholding the law and protecting public safety in high-density commercial areas.
Community and religious leaders continue to urge calm and adherence to lawful dispute resolution as the legal process unfolds.
