Liberia: BLUE Foundation Launches Fund Drive for Underprivileged Children as Rep. Benson Celebrates Birthday With Children With Disabilities

MONROVIA — The BLUE Foundation, established by Montserrado County District #17 Representative Bernard Blue Benson Jr., has launched a fundraising drive to support educational and healthcare initiatives for underprivileged children across Liberia.

The initiative was announced over the weekend, followed less than 24 hours later by Benson’s decision to celebrate his birthday with children at the Liberia School for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb.

The visit highlighted the needs of children with disabilities and underscored the importance of inclusive education, healthcare, and support for vulnerable groups.

Rather than limiting his birthday celebration to personal festivities, Benson spent the occasion with children at the institution, drawing attention to the challenges faced by children who often have limited access to educational resources and essential services.

The foundation’s fund drive seeks to mobilize resources for interventions in education and healthcare, two critical areas affecting the welfare and development of vulnerable children.

Access to quality education, appropriate learning materials, and essential healthcare remains important to improving children’s opportunities and long-term prospects, particularly those facing disabilities and economic hardship.

The fundraising initiative also provides an opportunity for individuals and organizations to contribute to programs intended to address the needs of disadvantaged children and their families.

Benson’s birthday visit further highlighted the importance of community engagement and compassion in public service, particularly in supporting children who face additional barriers to education and social inclusion.

The BLUE Foundation’s fundraising campaign is expected to help advance its stated mission of supporting underprivileged children through educational and healthcare initiatives.

Further details on the fund drive, including its financial target, fundraising arrangements, and planned beneficiaries, were not provided in the information accompanying the announcement.
