MONROVIA — The Chief Executive Officer of Nation Eyes FC, H. Mohammed Jaleiba, has called on financially capable citizens of Grand Cape Mount County to establish female football clubs, aiming to foster youth development and empower young women with a passion for the sport.
Speaking Tuesday in an exclusive interview with FrontPageAfrica, Jaleiba emphasized that expanding female football across the county will encourage young girls to balance classroom education with athletic training, better equipping them for domestic and international competition.
Grand Cape Mount currently hosts only two active female teams: Nation Eyes FC, based in Tewor District, and Pokpah Queens FC, located in Pokpah District.
Jaleiba noted that establishing at least six additional female clubs is necessary to enable the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to sanction an official LFA Female Sub-Division League within the county.
He stressed that any investor entering the sport must prioritize health and education alongside athletic development.
“Education and proper healthcare are essential requirements for anyone establishing a female football club,” Jaleiba said. “Without prioritizing those two key pillars, our youth will not achieve sustainable athletic or personal growth.”
The Nation Eyes FC executive revealed that preliminary discussions with the local football governing body yielded encouraging feedback, though structural expansion remains a prerequisite.
“We have already notified the LFA about the existence of our two clubs, and their response was positive,” Jaleiba explained. “However, they made it clear that we must increase the number of participating teams before a recognized county league can be launched. That is why I am appealing to our citizens including lawmakers to step up. If our Representatives and Senators cannot establish teams themselves, they should support those of us who have already taken the initiative.”
Jaleiba extended his appeal beyond domestic borders, calling on the Grand Cape Mount diaspora—particularly residents in the United States—to invest in grassroots sports development across the county.
