ROHDA Raalte were crowned champions following a hard-fought 2–1 victory over USV Hercules on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The result sealed the title with three matches to spare, sparking jubilant celebrations among players and supporters after a dominant campaign.
For Wesseh, the triumph caps a new period on both the club and international stages.
The young shot-stopper recently earned his first cap for the Lone Star in a friendly against Libya, a match that ended in a 2–2 draw.
His debut is being hailed by pundits as a major milestone for the next generation of Liberian goalkeeping talent.
Speaking to FrontPage Africa from the Netherlands via telephone, Wesseh described the league title as an unexpected but hard-earned achievement.
“It is unbelievable. Nobody expected this because this is only our second year in the league, and to become champions is something special,” Wesseh said.
“We are a team; we fight for each other and we never let each other down.”
Reflecting on the decisive win over Hercules, the keeper noted the importance of the victory despite the team’s comfortable lead in the standings.
“We were 10 points clear, but we still wanted to win because we had never beaten them before,” he added.
Wesseh, the son of former Lone Star goalkeeper trainer Christopher Wesseh, noted the deep personal significance of his recent run of form.
“It means so much to me. I have experienced so many wonderful things this year becoming a champion and playing for my country. I will never forget this year. I want to thank God, my family, friends, teammates, and coaches,” he said.

Wesseh has been a reliable fixture for the Dutch side, contributing to a defensive unit that remained resilient throughout the season.
He made eight appearances for the club in their promotion to the Fourth Tier.
The Road Ahead
The Derde Divisie, where ROHDA Raalte will compete next season, serves as the fourth tier of Dutch football. It sits below the Eredivisie, Eerste Divisie, and Tweede Divisie, featuring a mix of semi-professional and elite amateur clubs.
The league is traditionally split into Saturday and Sunday divisions.
Promotion to this level offers clubs increased visibility and a significantly higher standard of competition.
