Monrovia – The Head of the Traditional Council of Liberia Zanzan Kawor on Tuesday appeal to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to settle all political tension emanating from the Global Witness report.

“Global witness, Global what, why the noise too much, we appeal, we want for you (President) to end your job, we want for you to be our former President, we want for you to be our old mat, let us (Liberian Chiefs) present peace kola for this noise what happening, we want to say sorry,” Kawor added.
Chief Kawor termed the action by Speaker to accuse the President as wrong adding that the elders have come to say sorry on their behalf.
“Somebody say that the other person pay money for them to move me, we want for all this thing to finish, we are appealing to you so the noise can stop so we can do what we supposed to do,” Kawor averred.
Kawor continued: “On behalf of the council of chiefs and elders we say all the things, you hear in the House (Representatives) they are wrong.”
Recently Speaker Tyler accused President Sirleaf of bribing lawmakers to have him removed.
Chief Kawor called on Speaker Alex Tyler to stop the blame game adding he should have gone to the traditional council to seek advice.
“The other man (Speaker Tyler) said the President plan to do something to him, that they one want to move him, instead of coming to us to tell us so we can meet indoor; we need an upper room,” Chief Kawor added.
Kawor continued: “If we vote for you as representatives and you go in the house, you find job there, your friend them who give it to you, if they take it from you, you come back to us you are our representative, that one no fighting because that job we not give it to you, that your friend than give it to you, even when they want to take it from you just find way and come to us, so we can appeal.”
The traditional leader spoke during an honoring program organized by traditional women for President Sirleaf.
President Sirleaf speaking at the honoring ceremony accepted the kola nut but did not comment on the issue of power struggle between both branches and least to mention the indictment from the Global Witness Report.
But critics believe that the interference of the traditional leaders might undermine the fight against corruption and the rule of law.
