Cllr. Sherman Claims He Died, But God Sent Him Back to Campaign For Boakai

Monrovia – Senator Varney Sherman is counting is his blessings one by one.

The successful lawyer cum politician suffered a fainting spell at the Capitol building on May 11, 2017 during an endorsement ceremony of vice president Joseph Boakai’s bid.

The spell, according to the senator, was linked to a brain tumor he had no knowledge of.

“God told me I have not yet called your name—you have something to do in Liberia—go back where you came from,” he said to a roar of thunderous applause.

At a thanksgiving ceremony over the weekend at the Paynesville City Hall, following a successful removal of the tumor after months of treatment in the United States, the Senator gathered alongside his supporters to thank God for the new lease on his life.

“My fellow Liberians, I am very pleased today to be among you and to be speaking to you with the same vigor and with the same alertness that I had before May 11.

“On May 11 as most of you know, I fainted. For several days I was in coma, I did not know where I was or what was happening to me.

I think that I went to the gates of death, perhaps I sat on the chair and God told me I am not ready for you,” he said.

Cllr. Sherman said he began his morning on May 11, 2017 on a normal note.

“That morning, I did all the things that people do in the morning—went up and down my stairs, got dressed and went to a program to honor our Vice President,” Cllr. Sherman remembered. 

He expressed gratitude to the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital for the high level of professionalism in providing him first aid assistance, despite all of the complaints from the public against the institution.

“I’ll tell you, the days that I was in coma, with all of the complaints that I have heard about the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, I want to thank them very much.”

‘The doctors and nurses gave me very good care. And also to those people who were at the Capitol Building that rushed to my rescue, I say thanks to all of you,” Senator Sherman affirmed.

The Grand Cape Mount County Senator assured Ambassador Boakai and partisans of the Unity Party that he will do everything in his might to make Vice President Joseph Boakai the next President of the Republic of Liberia, asserting that with Amb. Boakai as president of Liberia, he believes that the shape of the country will change and the circumstances of the Liberian people will improve.
