Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – The Deputy Secretary General for Administration of the former ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in Grand Gedeh County, Felton Gayee, has resigned from the party with immediate effect.

In a letter dated February 23 and addressed to CDC Chairman Janga Kowo, Gayee said his decision was driven by a desire to align himself with a new political institution that would better advance the development agenda of Grand Gedeh County and Liberia at large.
Gayee expressed disappointment over what he described as the party leadership’s “misplaced” anger toward Grand Gedeans who reminded former President George Weah of promises made to the county during the 2023 General Elections.
“It is frustrating that some leaders of the CDC have directed their anger at Grand Gedeans for simply reminding former President George Weah of his countless promises to the county,” Gayee wrote.
Citing Chapter III, Article 17 of the 1986 Constitution of the Republic of Liberia, which guarantees freedom of association, Gayee formally notified the party of his resignation from both his position as Deputy Secretary General for Administration of the CDC’s Grand Gedeh Chapter and his membership in the party.
“In line with Chapter III, Article 17 of the 1986 Constitution of the Republic of Liberia, I write with a heavy heart to notify your honorable office that I have resigned my position as Deputy Secretary General for Administration, CDC-Grand Gedeh Chapter, and as a member of the CDC with immediate effect,” he stated.
While reflecting on his time with the party, Gayee said he remains grateful for the relationships built with leaders, militants, and supporters. However, he stressed that it was time to move forward.
“My decision to part ways with the CDC is driven by my vision of building a productive future for my family and finding a new political home that will prioritize the developmental agenda of Grand Gedeh County, instead of our people continuing to be seen as ‘reserve voters,’” he noted.
Despite his departure, Gayee wished the party well as it prepares for what he described as a “rocky journey” toward the 2029 General Elections.
Meanwhile, there are reports that several other CDC executives in Grand Gedeh are also considering resigning in the coming days, signaling potential internal challenges for the party in the county.
