MONROVIA — Bea Mountain FC are on the verge of completing a marquee transfer for Gambian international goalkeeper Ahmed Savage from FC Fassell, in what is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile moves of the current Liberian domestic transfer window.
While the Kinjor-based club has not formally announced the signing, a senior official of the club confirmed to FrontPage Africa that negotiations are at an advanced stage and an official unveiling is expected shortly.
Savage’s impending move to the “Gold Boys” represents a major statement of intent as Bea Mountain look to reinforce their goalkeeping options and mount a fierce challenge for the LFA First Division title in the upcoming campaign.
A Stellar Debut & Title Glory
Savage made an immediate impact upon his arrival in Liberian football during the 2024–2025 season. In his debut campaign with FC Fassell, the Gambian shot-stopper delivered a series of heroic performances, guiding the club to their historic first-ever LFA First Division league title.
His stellar form saw him clean up at the end-of-season awards, earning the coveted Best Goalkeeper of the Year award, Best Foreign Player of the Year, and a spot in the LFA League Best XI.
Notably, he became the first goalkeeper in Liberian top-flight history to record both a goal and an assist in a single league campaign.
A Turbulent Second Campaign
However, Savage’s second season (2025–2026) proved far more challenging.
FC Fassell struggled to replicate their championship consistency and ultimately failed to defend their league title.
The season was further marred by controversy off the pitch. Savage was slapped with a four-month suspension from all football-related activities and a fine by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Disciplinary Committee following a chaotic match against Bea Mountain in Ganta City.
The sanction was handed down after an investigation into on-field altercations and violent conduct during the heated fixture.
A Fresh Chapter at Kinjor
Despite the turbulent conclusion to his spell at Fassell, Savage’s reputation as an elite, match-winning goalkeeper remains intact.
Interestingly, his move brings him to the very side he clashed with in Ganta, as Bea Mountain view the experienced Gambian as the missing piece in their quest for domestic silverware.
If finalized as expected, Savage’s arrival will significantly bolster the “Gold Boys” backline, adding proven leadership, championship experience, and top-tier shot-stopping capability to their roster ahead of the new season.
